Dietary fiber: Flaxseed contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber (particularly mucilage) forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract, while insoluble fiber adds bulk. A tablespoon of ground flaxseed contributes about 2–3 grams of fiber.
